Chanting the Nāmasamgitī

This short text directed to the bodhisattva Mañjuśrī is popularly chanted by Newar Buddhists, some daily and many more on special holy days such as full moons and Guṃlā month. Its words summarize Mahāyāna teachings and the chanting is regarded as exceptionally meritorious. There are numerous associations of devotees (guthi) dedicated to organizing group recitations of the Nāmasamgitī.
