Rituals at Svayambhū Stūpa

The ancient and still most important Buddhist shrine in the Newar Buddhist world, the hilltop stupa is the regular focus of a plethora of devotional activities, from worship with music, offerings of every kind, simple individual actions as well as group activities. Also the site of Tibetan, Theravāda, and Newar monasteries, the Svayambhū area in the mornings is crowded with devotees, especially on full and eighth lunar days.
